The Ferocity Dance Company is a Latin Dance Company located in Falls Church, VA that primarily focuses in different styles of Bachata. We pride ourselves on providing a family type of environment full of positive energy, hard work and fun results!

The Company was founded in 2012 by Kat Arias, who is the Owner & Director and wanted to create a place where anyone that wanted to be family, could be. Ferocity has won many accolades throughout the years and has weathered many storms in the quest to create this safe space for all who love to dance. Ferocity is: Family, Fierce, Passion.

While we may not operate or feel like a traditional dance studio, we believe in our vision that anyone can be fierce regardless of their background, and that Fierce is for Everyone, that means you! We hope to see you on the dance floor. Let's get to slaying.

Competitive Training
Since 2015 we have been participating in competitions with our competitive group and with couples or amateur students that train with us for Pro-Am opportunities. If this is a goal you have we can discuss to see if we're the right fit for you!

Performance Teams
Since our creation, we have been a Performing Arts focused Dance Company. We focus on Adult performance teams and train on choreographies throughout the year. Inclusion to these teams is through auditions only.

Social Dancing
We offer group classes, private lessons (in person and virtually), specialty workshops and a non-performing Training Team at our studio if your primary focus is to become a better social dancer.

Wedding Dances & Quinceñeras
We offer private lesson instruction you help you get ready for your big day! Whether it's a full on choreography or getting some steps down, we help everyone make their visions come to light and can teach in Ballroom & Latin style dances.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need dance experience to take classes at Ferocity?

Not at all! Ferocity welcomes dancers at a variety of experience levels, including complete beginners. Our classes and private lessons are designed with specific levels in mind so you can learn in an environment that is appropriate for where you are in your dance journey. Check the class description to find the best fit for you, or contact us if you’re not sure where to start.

Do I need a partner?

No! You do not need to bring a partner to attend our classes. In partnerwork classes, students rotate partners throughout the class, giving everyone the opportunity to dance, learn, and connect with different people.

What should I wear to class?

Wear something comfortable that allows you to move freely and makes you feel confident. Athletic wear or casual dance attire works perfectly. For shoes, we recommend dance shoes or comfortable non rubber sole dance shoes that allow you to move and turn safely. Specific classes and programs may have additional footwear recommendations.

What styles of dance do you teach?

Ferocity specializes primarily in Bachata, with training that may include partnerwork, footwork, styling, musicality, technique, performance training, and more. We also offer Salsa and other specialty classes, workshops, and training opportunities throughout the year.

Is Ferocity only for competitive or performance dancers?

Absolutely not. While Ferocity is home to award-winning performance and competitive teams, you do not have to perform or compete to train with us. Many of our students simply want to learn, improve their dancing, meet people, stay active, and have fun. You get to decide what you want your dance journey to look like.

How do I join a Ferocity performance or competition team?

Inclusion to the performing and competing teams are done via auditions every December. Our teams range in level and commitment, so requirements can vary. If performing or competing is one of your goals, talk to us! We can help you determine what training or program may be the best next step.

Am I "too old", "too inexperienced", or the “wrong” body type to dance?

Absolutely not. Ferocity was built on the belief that dance should be accessible to all people. Dance is for different ages, backgrounds, body types, and experiences. If you're willing to work, and committed to growing, then dance is for you.

What makes Ferocity different from other dance studios?

Ferocity is an experience, not just a place you go to. Since 2012, our goal has been to create a home where dancers can receive high quality training while also feeling supported, challenged, respected, and accepted. We believe strong dancers can be developed without sacrificing community. Whether you are taking your very first class or training for a world championship stage, you deserve a space where your growth matters just as much as you and your energy.

CAN I TAKE PRIVATE LESSONS?

Yes! Private lessons are available for dancers who want more individualized attention. Lessons can focus on technique, Bachata or Salsa fundamentals, partnerwork, styling, musicality, choreography, performance preparation, competition training, or other specific goals. Private lessons are a great option if you want to accelerate your progress or work on something in greater detail and are often our preferred method to work with people that are brand new to dancing, or to this style of dance.

I’m nervous about coming to my first class. What should I expect?

Being nervous is completely normal, especially if you’ve never stepped into a dance studio before. Come a few minutes early, wear something comfortable, and be ready to learn. You do not need to prove anything before you walk through our doors. Our job is to teach you. Come as you are, give yourself permission to be a beginner, and let the dancing take care of the rest - we promise you a good time, some laughs and a lot of learning!

HOW TO FIND OUR STUDIO:
The easiest way to find our suite is if you enter the building from the SIDE, there is a staircase behind a brick mural that leads to the basement on the side of the building closest to 7-11.

If you end up using the front door, go down the small set of stairs, take a right and then you'll see a blue metal door on the right hand side before you get to the glass door suite at the end of the hall, that is the staircase to the basement where we are located.
