I would like to take a moment to communicate our stance regarding Black Lives Matter.
While my studio and Ferocity community may not be a large one, I want you to know that racism has never and will never be allowed in our doors, or around us. This behavior is deplorable and we must all do our part to take a stand against this way of thinking and follow through with actions. The lack of doing so will lead us towards many more future injustices and deaths. The injustices endured by the Black community are unimaginable - for far too long their cries and pains have gone disregarded and left unattended to. These injustices are all of our problem, these are crimes against our friends, our family and our people. One thing is to say you're an ally and it's another to be one - we need to BE allies. It's not enough to "not be racist," we must be anti-racist. I want you to know that I stand by my values and I see what's happening and it's not right, I will do my part in educating myself on how to be a better ally. While we stand here at this juncture of change, I want you to know that while we can have differences of opinions when it comes to many things, we can't when it comes to racism. Not in my studio, not in my Company, and hopefully soon, not in my country. We need to start with ourselves and push for change. People shouldn't have to fight for the basic human right of being seen, and treated equally as all other human beings on Earth. Ferocity stands with the Black Lives Matter movement, and if that is a problem, this is not the correct studio for you, and I am not the right teacher for you. Keep slaying, Kat Arias Owner, Director Ferocity Dance Company
